Third? Tres?! Three?!?

Our friends from Waterfall Philippines have done. it. again! A third meetup that is even more awesome than the last one!

So awesome that this post three days later…

Agile Philippines was more than happy yet again to lend our support to their community by taking part on their event!

Tappiyah Waterfalls during Typhoon Mina (2011), Batad, Philippines

Waterfall Philippines has a simple manifesto, which reads:

We already uncovered the best way of developing
software by doing waterfall and getting others to do it

Be like WATER. Embrace the FALL.

WATERFALL!!!!

The meetup started with a talk on A Celebration of “Traditional” Project Management

W-o-w
I was slightly triggered

This was followed by “Lean Coffee” with no timeboxes…

Topics and schedule were:

7:00 PM–8:55 PM:

  • A Celebration of “Traditional” Project Management (link)
  • Best Waterfall metrics in 2022 (link)
  • How might we design the Grand Canyon today? An exploration of a grand scale waterfall project on Project Earth (age 5–6 million years) (link)
  • Agile diagrams that are actually waterfall diagrams? (link)
  • Flight Levels and Agility: Lead time to project success? (link)
  • Give Thanks to Waterfalls — Waterfall appreciation, Puzzles, Hopes and Wishes (link)

Once again, this meetup was actually… productive and informative. Most were not that surprised anymore, considering this is what happened in the last two years as well…

A question in most attendees minds were: is Agile just Waterfall, with a few letters less??

We started wrapping up at 8:55 in the evening, as planned, with talk on future plans, and a group screenshot to commemorate the event.

Why is this thing still going, and going strong?!

Waterfall Philippines would like to thank all the folks at Agile Philippines for the support! It was also great to see people from around South East Asia attend. Two years ago we asked how far were we willing to take a joke, and it looks like we are still going, and learning along the way!

Waterfall Philippines meetups happen. They just do. This is a community event, and is only made possible by people who go to the meetups, and the people crazy enough to pull something like this.

Please do reach out to the Agile Philippines Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup. We would have had our own infrastructure, but these were not part of the detailed requirements for this release.

See you in 2023 AND 2024 with WaterFOUR and WaterFIVE Philippines Meetups! If one additional hour of planning made THIS MUCH difference, what more with up to two more years!
